SUMMER MUSIC CAMPS 2022

MusicWithStorm

Ballard, Seattle, WA

This Summer, I'm very excited to offer three types of music camps for Middle School age students in the Seattle area. Camps will take place at my studio in Ballard where students will get the opportunity to hone their music skills in a focused, fun, and encouraging environment.

My studio has many different types of drums, including all standard orchestral percussion, hand drums, and mallet instruments like marimba, vibraphone, and xylophone.

My studio also has a weighted 88 key piano, a drum set, a guitar and a ukulele—for students who register for "Band Camp".

Prerequisites: Students who attend these summer camps should have up to 6 months of formal music training (i.e. private lessons, school band, etc.), including experience in reading written music. If your child does not meet these requirements, but you feel that they might be a good fit for the camp, then let's talk! I'm happy to connect and discuss, just reach out to me with the button below.

Percussion Classes

For Teens and Adults

In Percussion Classes, students will learn basic drumming techniques in a small group environment. The goals for these classes are to improve drumming technique, build a deeper understanding of rhythm, and to develop the skills to continue practicing and improving at home.

Classes are offered for all skill levels, especially brand new beginners.

Class tuition covers 2 months of weekly lessons, and gives the student access to online practice videos for at-home study.

ABOUT STORM

as a teacher.

For those of you who don't know me, I'd like to share a bit about who I am and what I do. I'm a Washingtonian who moved to Seattle after attending grad school in Michigan. The PNW is my home.

As a musician, I'm committed to sharing the beauty of music with my community through performance and education.

As a teacher, my goal is to create life-long musicians. I hope to teach my students to develop the language to express their interests in music, give them the skills to take part in the sounds they enjoy, and foster their unique connection with music. I believe that studying music can develop skills that translate well into other areas of life, especially when music is practiced in a group setting.

I have a Masters Degree in Percussion Performance. I run a private studio of 40+ students—piano, guitar, ukulele, and percussion (all ages). I give clinics and coach percussionists in public schools. I have taught youth orchestra percussion ensembles and music classes at after-school programs. I have performed with various local symphony orchestras and have even taken the occasional drumset gig. When I perform today—as a soloist or in an ensemble, it's generally contemporary-classical music. I compose for and perform with my duo, re•create percussion, and multi-media ensemble, Striking Music. I also perform with the chamber orchestra, The Sound Ensemble.

If you want to know more about me as a performer and person, check out the home page of this website. If you want to talk about anything, I'm here for it, just click the button below.
